PRAPIROON (HENRY) BECOMES THE FOURTH TYPHOON OF THE
2006 SEASON...SHIFTING ITS TRACK A LITTLE BIT TO THE
NORTH...NOW AIMS FOR ZHANJIANG DISTRICT IN WESTERN
GUANGDONG.

+ FORECAST OUTLOOK: PRAPIROON is expected to continue
intensifying and move WNW for the next 3 to 5 days.
The eye shall make landfall over Western Guangdong
passing very close to Zhanjiang, China early Friday
morning (Aug 4) and shall move across the coastal
towns of Western Guangdong in the afternoon (Fri Aug 4).
PRAPIROON shall weaken further & dissipate while moving
inland across the Vietnam-China border around Saturday
and Sunday (Aug 5 & 6).


+ EFFECTS: PRAPIROON's Inner bands just beginning to
approach the coastal beach front areas of Western
Guangdong and Hainan Island, while its Outer Bands con-
tinues to spread across the whole Guangdong Province
including Hong Kong & Macau. The typhoon's circulation
continues to cover the northern half of South China Sea
with its eastern outer bands still spreading over the
coast of Western Luzon. These bands may bring cloudy
skies with passing moderate to heavy rains accompanied
with winds reaching 75 kph or more. Residents living
along the river banks, steep mountain slopes and low-
lying areas are advised to stay alert and foresee eva-
cuation in case of possible flashfloods and mudslides.
Coastal Storm Surge flooding of 4 to 5 feet above
normal tide levels...along with large and dangerous
battering waves...can be expected near and to the
north of where the center makes landfall in Zhangjiang
District, Western Guangdong. Increasing strong winds
accompanied with moderate to very heavy rains can be
experience over the Western-most Guangdong Province
beginning tomorrow as PRAPIROON's core (Eye+EyeWall)
approaches
.

+ CURRENT MONSOON INTENSITY: The enhanced Southwest (SW)
Monsoon continues to recede away from Western Luzon into
the South China Sea but it's still affecting the provinces
of Bataan, Zambales, Pangasinan, La Union & Ilocos. Cloudy
weather conditions with light to moderate or sometimes
heavy rainfall can still be experienced today with impro-
ving conditions by tomorrow. Southwesterly winds of 40
km/hr with higher gusts may be expected along the
affected areas.

+ TROPICAL CYCLONE WATCH: The Tropical Disturbance (LPA/
98W/1006 mb) near the Island of Yap in the Carolines has
once again becoming better organized. The disturbance was
last located about 1,370 km East of Surigao City (10.0N
138.0E)...almost stationary with max sustained winds of

TO TRACK WEST-NORTHWESTWARD OVER THE NEXT 36 HOURS. THE
WEAKNESS CURRENTLY OVER EASTERN CHINA IS EXPECTED TO GRADUALLY
LIFT ALLOWING THE RIDGE TO RE-ESTABLISH ITSELF AND CAUSE TS 
PRAPIROON TO TRACK MORE WESTERLY NEAR 72 HOURS
