TROPICAL DEPRESSION 17W (UNNAMED) MOVING SLOWLY PARALLEL
TO THE COAST OF VIETNAM...LIKELY TO REACH TROPICAL STORM.

+ FORECAST OUTLOOK: 17W is expected to turn more WNW to-
night and shall make landfall over Northern Vietnam tomo-
rrow afternoon. Dissipation of this depression is likely
as it moves further inland across Vietnam. All interests
in Vietnam should closely monitor the progress of this
depression.
 

+ EFFECTS: 17W's circulation continues to spread across
Central Vietnam, portions of Cambodia & Eastern Thailand
including Hainan Is, China. Passing rains and winds not
in excess of 55 km/hr can be expected along its circu-
lation
.

+ TROPICAL CYCLONE WATCH: The Tropical Disturbance (LPA
/99W/1006 mb) over the Philippine Sea remained disorga-
nized over the past 12 hours. It was located about 740
km East of Borongan, Eastern Samar (11.4N 132.2E)...with
winds of 30 km/hr, moving NW slowly. This system will be
closely monitored for further development into a Tropical
Cyclone within a day or two.

outlook, effects & current monsoon intensity, and tropical
cyclone watch changes every 06 to 12 hours!

STEERING RIDGE ANCHORED OVER SOUTHEASTERN CHINA. THIS MOTION
WILL PERSIST AND LANDFALL IN CENTRAL VIETNAM WILL OCCUR BY 
36 HOURS..
