3-DAY FORECAST OUTLOOK & ANALYSIS*

MAWAR is expected to move NE for the next 24 hours, before turning ENE-ward during the next 48 to 72 hours. On the forecast track, the core of MAWAR will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and pass to the southeast of Okinawa, Japan on Tuesday morning. By Wednesday and Thursday, MAWAR will be passing well to the south of Honshu, Japan and Kuril Islands.

Maximum Sustained Winds (1-min. avg) have decreased to near 175 km/hr (95 knots) with higher gusts. MAWAR is now on its decaying stages as the system moves into cooler sea-surface temperatures (SSTs) and unfavorable upper-level environs. This system will become an Extratropical Cyclone on Thursday.

Typhoon Force Winds (118 km/hr or more) extend outward up to 65 kilometers (35 nautical miles) from the center...and Tropical Storm Force Winds (62-117 km/hr) extend outward up to 285 kilometers (155 nautical miles). MAWAR is an average-sized tropical cyclone with a diameter of 880 kilometers (475 nautical miles).

The following is the summary of the 3-day forecast outlook on this system:

TUESDAY AFTERNOON: Weakens to Category 1 while outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR)...accelerating NE away from Okinawa and Ryukyu Islands [2PM JUN 05: 26.6N 131.4E @ 150kph].
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON: Downgraded to a Tropical Storm (TS)...passing well to the south of Honshu, Japan...becoming Extratropical [2PM JUN 06: 31.4N 139.8E @ 110kph].
THURSDAY AFTERNOON: Passing to the south of the Kuril Islands or over the cool waters of the North Pacific Ocean...becomes Extratropical [2PM JUN 07: 37.0N 150.5E @ 75kph].

*Please be reminded that the Forecast Outlook changes every 6 hours, and the Day 3 Forecast Track have an average error of 250 km...while the wind speed forecast error, averages 35 kph per day. Therefore, a turn to the left or right of its future track and changes in its wind speed must be anticipated from time to time.
