Tropical Storm YAGI (DANTE) accelerating rapidly towards the Sea South of Japan.
Residents and visitors along Southern Japan should closely monitor the development of YAGI (DANTE).

CURRENT STORM ANALYSIS
As of 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Yagi (Dante) was located over the Northwest Pacific Ocean...about 446 km south-southeast of Tanabe, Japan or 589 km south of Nagoya, Japan...currently moving north with an increased forward speed of 30 km/hr in the general direction of the Sea South of Japan.
Maximum Sustained Winds (1-min. avg) at 95 km/hr near the center with higher gusts. Tropical Storm Force Winds (62-117 km/hr) extend outward up to 175 kilometers from the center. Yagi (Dante) is an average-sized tropical cyclone with a diameter of 555 kilometers across. The 24-hour rainfall accumulation near the center of Yagi (Dante) is estimated to be heavy (220 mm).
3-DAY FORECAST OUTLOOK*
TS Yagi (Dante) is expected to move north-northeast to northeast during the next 24 hours, with a counter-clockwise turn to the east-northeast, east to southeast between 48 to 72 hours. On the forecast track, the core of Yagi (Dante) will be just along the open waters of the Northwest Pacific, south of Japan through Friday afternoon.
Yagi (Dante) is forecast to decay and start losing strength during the next 24 hours...becoming just a Tropical Depression on Thursday afternoon...and will dissipate into an area of low pressure on Friday afternoon.
The following is the summary of the 3-day forecast outlook on this system:
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON: Turns north-northeast to northeast across the open waters of the Northwest Pacific Ocean...about 308 km southeast of Tanabe, Japan [5PM JUN 12: 32.1N 138.1E @ 65kph].
THURSDAY AFTERNOON: Weakens into a TD as it decelerates while over the sea south of Japan...begins to move east-northeast to eastward...about 367 km south of Tokyo, Japan [5PM JUN 13: 32.4N 139.6E @ 45kph].
FRIDAY AFTERNOON: Dissipating over the Northwest Pacific Ocean...just an area of low pressure...about 418 km south-southeast of Tokyo, Japan [5PM JUN 14: 32.0N 140.5E @ 35kph].
*Please be reminded that the Forecast Outlook changes every 6 hours, and the Day 3 Forecast Track have an average error of 250 km...while the wind speed forecast error, averages 35 kph per day. Therefore, a turn to the left or right of its future track and changes in its wind speed must be anticipated from time to time.

Tropical Depression Conditions with light, moderate to strong winds (30-60 kph) will be expected along these bands (click here to know more about Rainbands). 24HR TOTAL RAINFALL ACCUMULATION - from 5 up to 100 mm (slight to heavy rainfall) can be expected along areas affected by the rainbands (see above)...with isolated amounts of 101 to 205 mm (heavy) along areas to the south and near the center of Yagi (Dante).
