Current Status

Tropical Storm (TS) NEPARTAK [BUTCHOY] has made its last landfall over Fujian Province, China or in the vicinity of Quanzhou City around 11am this morning and has rapidly weakened into a Tropical Depression (TD). 

 

NEPARTAK is currently moving across the central part of Fujian and will eventually dissipate within the next 24 hours.  Hence, this will be the final update on this tropical cyclone.

 
Meanwhile, this depression will still continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and bring "on-and-off" rains with thunderstorms and gusty winds across the western sections of Luzon and Visayas including Metro Manila tonight and tomorrow (Sun Jul 10).

 

Where is Nepartak  (Butchoy)?

As of 5:00 PM PhT today, July 09...0900 GMT.  The center was located over the Daiyun Shan Mountains (near 25.4N 118.2E), about 11 km south-southwest of Dehua, China or 669 km. northwest of Basco, Batanes.

 

How strong is it?

Maximum Sustained Winds (10-min avg): 55 kph near the center...Gustiness: 75 kph

 

Where is it heading?

North-Northwest to North @ 17 kph, towards Eastern China.

 

What areas will be most affected?

Fujian Province – Tonight until Tomorrow (Sun Jul 10).

TD NEPARTAK (BUTCHOY) is expected to move in a generally northerly direction during the outlook period. On the forecast track, NEPARTAK (BUTCHOY) shall be over the Fujian-Jiangxi-Zhejiang Border by Sunday afternoon (Jul 10).

  
TD NEPARTAK (BUTCHOY) is expected to continue losing strength and dissipate throughout the outlook period as the system encounters land interaction with Southeastern China.
